Tull sets record in swimming and diving opener

New Palestine junior Isabelle Tull set a six-dive school record Thursday night, scoring 232.85 in the Dragons' season-opening meet with Greenwood and Roncalli. The Dragons girls swimming and diving team beat Roncalli 70-27, but fell to Greenwood 53-48 to split the meet. Tull won the diving competition, leading a 1-2 finish with Katie Kelley, and was the Dragons' individual winner on the evening. The Dragons also won the meet-opening 200 medley relay, as Ireland Armstrong, Piper Schaefer, Isabelle Singer and Cadyn Brown won in 2:07.56. Finishing second for the Dragons were Lillie Abernathy in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly, Armstrong in the 50 freestyle, and 100 freestyle, Singer in the 500 freestyle and Gwen Melby in the 100 breaststroke. Jozlynn Hart, Armstrong, Melby and Brown were second in the 200 free relay. Ellie Ragsdale, Singer, Madi Bard and Schaefer were second in the 400 free relay. Individuals finishing third were Melby in the 200 free, Schaefer in the 200 IM and 100 backstroke and Ragsdale in the 100 butterfly. The Dragons are next in action Tuesday at home against Cathedral. It will also be the boys' season opener.
