Boys swimming places fifth in HHC

The New Palestine boys swimming and diving team finished fifth in the Hoosier Heritage Conference Saturday at the NPHS Natatorium, doing so among a tight field. The Dragons scored 245 points, finishing three back of fourth-place New Castle (248), and ahead of sixth-place Delta (220). Greenfield-Central (466), Pendleton Heights (314) and Yorktown (281) took the top three spots. Jake Myers and Reese Cox had the top finishers for the Dragons, as each finished third - Myers in the 100 butterfly, Cox in the 100 backstroke. Cox was also fifth in the 200 IM. Myers finished sixth in the 50 freestyle. Jalen Thompson was fifth in the 100 freestyle and seventh in the 50 freestyle. Blake Hurst was eighth in the 100 breaststroke and 200 IM. Two relays finished third. Cox, Hurst, Myers and Sam Dobbins finished third in the 200 medley relay, while Cox, Hurst, Thompson and Myers did so in the 200 free relay. Max Watson, Noah Merchant, Dobbins and Thompson were fourth in the 400 free relay. The Dragons are back in action Thursday at Shelbyville in a dual meet.
