Journay, Pardieck clinch State Finals spots

Abby Journay and Hailey Pardieck each clinched State Finals spots from Tuesday's girls track and field regional at Greenfield-Central. Journay will compete in next week's State Finals in two events. She was third in the 200 meters with a time of 25.13 seconds. She also placed fourth in the long jump but will advance on distance, with a leap of 17-8.25. Pardieck advanced in the 3200, running the two-mile in 11:00.68. The Dragons placed 11th out of 34 competing teams with a score of 24 points. North Central (80), Chatard (68) and Franklin Central (53) were the top three teams. Journay also scored in the high jump, finishing seventh (5-2). Also scoring for the Dragons was Cadyn Brown, who was fourth in the discus (118-1). Also competing were Lillie Abernathy in shot put (9th, 33-2.5), Taylor Burke (9th, 16.21) and Caylee Brown (13th, 17.09) in the 100 hurdles, Elena Daugherty in the 1600 (10th, 5:28.69), Adi Smith in the 3200 (12th, 12:02.69) and Savannah Baird in pole vault (14th, 8-6). The 4x800 relay of Smith, Olivia Weaver, Taylor Stone and Daugherty was 14th (10:25.52). The 4x100 relay of Cayanna Brown, Caylee Brown, Marly Turso and Addison Lindell was 13th (51.28). The 4x400 relay of Abby Journay, Daugherty, Weaver and Bre Journay was 12th (4:11.34). The State Finals will be held Friday, June 5 at North Central High School in Indianapolis.
