Senior Lauren Deering shot a two-over par 38 to lead the New Palestine girls golf team to a second-place finish in Tuesday's Hancock County meet at Hawk's Tail in Greenfield. Deering finished second overall in the 20-golfer field to earn All-County honors. She finished three strokes behind MV's Ressie Lemmon, the county champion. The Dragons shot 197 as a team to finish second to MV (165). Eastern Hancock (197) was third and Greenfield-Central (215) fourth. In addition to Deering's 38, Aubree Amback shot a career-best 46. Tessa Mohr added a 48 and Carlee Poorbaugh a 50. Jozlynn Hart's 54 was the fifth score. The Dragons are next in action Thursday at Maple Creek against Cathedral.
