The New Palestine volleyball team had a dominant performance in Thursday's sectional opener at Shelbyville, beating Beech Grove 25-4, 25-7, 25-10. Sam Gooding tallied 24 assists, making her the first Dragon to tally 3,000 for her career. Azure Flagle nearly had a double-double with 13 digs and nine aces. Kennedy Armstrong had six digs and four aces. Natalie Sevier had 10 kills. Adalynn Crispin had seven kills and four digs. Elena Cook tallied six kills. Hayden Ramsey had four kills and two aces. Caylee Brown also had four kills. Paige Trimpe tallied five assists. The Dragons are now 27-4 on the season. They advance to Saturday's 11:30 a.m. sectional semifinal at Shelbyville's Garrett Gym against either Greenwood or Shelbyville. The winner plays in the 7 p.m. sectional championship match.
